Presenter Application

All submissions must be received by 01 June 2026 to be considered.

The 2026 International Recovery Convention Program Committee welcomes proposals for workshops to be presented at the 2026 IRC. The following are guidelines for presentations and workshop topics and speakers.

  • Applicants must plan on attending one of the in-person sites in Baltimore, Maryland, USA or Castletown, County Laois, Ireland.
  • Topics should be directly related to the S.L.A.A. program of recovery. Possible topics include: working the Twelve Steps, applying the Twelve Traditions or Twelve Concepts, practicing program principles in our lives and our groups, and carrying the message to other sex and love addicts.
  • Topics should fit clearly under the convention theme “Five Decades, Five Major Resources” and relate to one or more of the following major resources:
    • Sobriety. Our willingness to stop acting out in our own personal bottom-line addictive behavior on a daily basis.
    • Sponsorship / Meetings. Our capacity to reach out for the supportive fellowship within S.L.A.A.
    • Steps. Our practice of the Twelve Step program of recovery to achieve sexual and emotional sobriety.
    • Service. Our giving back to the S.L.A.A. community what we continue to freely receive.
    • Spirituality. Our developing a relationship with a Power greater than ourselves, which can guide and sustain us in recovery.

  • A workshop presenter or speaker should have sufficient program experience, sobriety, and share openly and honestly from their own experience, strength, and hope in recovery.
  • Workshops should be planned for sixty or seventy-five minutes, including time for questions and discussion. (You will need to choose time on the application form.)
  • Please refrain from submitting topics about outside issues, such as specific religions, medicine, therapy, childhood trauma, and other similar topics. These topics may be a component of a workshop, but not the main topic.
  • All else being equal, applicants who have presented this workshop before for their intergroup, group, or service body and have refined and adapted it based on participant feedback will be preferred over first-time presenters.
  • Recommendation of literature other than S.L.A.A. convention-approved literature should be avoided, with the exception of Conference Literature Committee (CLC) approved drafts that follow the S.L.A.A. Policy on Use of Draft Literature.
  • If a workshop has co-presenters, both must attend in person. The first person listed on the application will be considered the primary submitter and responsible for sharing information with co-presenters.
  • The convention organizers reserve the right to solicit presenters on workshop topics to make the convention more well-rounded for all.
  • Workshop presenters and speakers are not compensated and are responsible for their own travel expenses and convention registration fees. A 10% registration discount code will be provided to all selected presenters and can be used as needed.

All applicants will receive an email confirming whether their proposal has been
accepted or declined by 20 July 2026.  Thank you for your proposal(s).
